Last week model Crystal Geller stopped by the studio for a Glamour and Beauty Photography session. Crystal just signed on with Sports + Lifestyle Unlimited, so she was looking for headshots to add to her portfolio.

Crystal was honestly such a great sport. She was just getting over a cold and felt like crap, yet she still came into the studio ready to work and give 110%! She brought a variety of outfits to work with, but when I pitched the idea of ditching them, she was game.

Crystal was willing to let my make-up and hair artist, Ashley Hardy, work her magic with full trust. Crystal had so much faith in us that she stepped on set without even one glance in the mirror. Crystal is the farthest thing from a diva. She didn’t ask to look in the mirror. She just worked the camera without any idea of what she looked like. It was only after a few minutes of shooting that I realized we never showed her the fabulous look she was rocking! Ooops!

Crystal’s first look was this messy up-do that reminded me of the Victorian era. Combined with her porcelain skin, the look was stunning. Crystal’s eyes are the star of the show in these images.

Our second look was actually quite by accident. As Ashley was removing the up-do I couldn’t help but love the diva-rific big hair that was going on. Once again, Crystal was accommodating (and trusting!) when I asked her to step back on step to rock some major Cher-hair. I think Crystal thought I was a little nutso, but she rolled with it.

The final look was a wet look. This is where Crystal’s personality and good nature really shined. Let me tell you, the girl was absolutely freezing and shivering, despite my efforts to heat the studio to a tropical level. Not once did Crystal complain. She shivered, but she just continued to work it.

Post-processing of the images was equally as fun. I actually did different color adjustments to match the mood of the portrait. Some are soft, some are harsh. It really just depended on Crystal’s expression.
