Andrew and Samantha | Horning’s Hideout Wedding

One of the great things about being an outdoor wedding photographer is the endless supply of amazing venues! Over the past five years, I can count on one hand the number of repeat venues. Each year couples surprise me with new and exciting places, and I love the adventure.

Samantha and Andrew’s wedding was one of those nice, unexpected locations. When I first saw “Horning’s Hideout” on the paperwork, my first response was, “Where?!” Immediately followed by, “What?!” What I didn’t know is that Horning’s Hideout is this beautiful property–dare I say private park?–outside North Plains, Oregon.

When you are driving out to venue, you are treated to beautiful rolling hills and farmland. And in July, the golden colors are fantastic! Then you drive down into this Doug Fir filled ravine and arrive at a lake surrounded by lush forest. So stunning!

Samantha and Andrew’s wedding celebration itself was the right mix of traditional elegance and laid-back vibe. Andrew made all of the silver iridescent glass bubbles that dotted the landscape. And the couples handmade photo-puzzle beads hinted at the fun they have together.

So many amazing memories were made that evening. I think the highlight for me was the mother-son dance. The groom and his mom ditched the traditional slow dance (and their shoes!) and opted to rock out barefoot to Hendrix as guests cheered them on–AWESOME!

Here is a look at Samantha and Andrew’s fantastic celebration!
