There really is so much joy that comes from newborn photography. I mean, who doesn’t love those curly, scrunchy little faces, baby wrinkles, ten tiny fingers and ten sweet toes? So adorable! If you haven’t guessed by now, I LOVE working with newborns. It takes be back to when my daughter was born. How could she have ever been this small?!

Yesterday, sweet little Scott put a huge smile on my face. He and his parents stopped by the studio for Scott’s first photo shoot. At 11-days-old, sweet Scott was SO AMAZING to work with. While he was experiencing his first “alert” day, he had no problem being in front of the camera and having the adults pose him. Not one tear shed, not one sound made. What a darling little (calm!) personality.

During Scott’s session, his parents told me about the horrible department store photo shoot they had when Scott’s big sister was born. While I always give 110% during a shoot, hearing their story pushed me that much harder to make sure they had a MUCH more positive experience. My goal was to not only give them beautiful portraits of Scott, but also to help them make new, better memories. I wanted the family to feel good again about visiting a portrait studio! And I wanted them to walk away with heirlooms their treasure always.

Twins | Portland Infant Photographer

It’s spring time, and for an infant photographer, that means babies! Lots and lots of babies! If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you know that makes me a happy gal. I love the wee ones!

I recently had the pleasure of having twins Sebastian and Alexander visit the studio. They brought mommy, daddy and their two grandmas. What a joy to have the extended family involved in the photo shoot. And with twins, the more hands to help, the merrier!

The boys were only a month or so old, and mega adorable. Their little personalities were already beginning to shine through. During our session we made some sweet portraits (and cute-as-can-be outtakes). However, it was the relationship images that really grabbed me as an infant photographer. The love just radiates from these photos.

Sweet Emily

Portland Newborn Photography Studio | Acorn Studios

There are many great things about owning a newborn photography studio. I absolutely adore babies, and getting to work with the tiniest guys and gals, is a real treat for me. They honestly ooze sweetness. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.

Last month I had the pleasure of shooting part one (The Bump!) of a Bump & Baby Session with Vera, a lovely mom with a bump on the way.  Just a couple short weeks later, it was back to the studio for part two of her session (The Baby!).

Getting to work with 6-day-old Emily was really exciting. This little cherub was just so sweet and so beautiful. She snoozed through most of the session, which made for some great sleepy baby shots!

Is she not the most precious thing you’ve seen today?!

She Ridz | Portland Commercial Photographer

What an amazing day! The sun was out. Signs of spring were everywhere. Plus, I had a great photo shoot for She Ridz!

She Ridz is a new company focused on quality apparel for active women. The brand’s first line includes a variety of  comfortable, but very sexy, under garments. Product will be hitting stores this spring! How exciting is that?!

Jessica, the owner, is a motorcycle enthusiast and is breaking the stereotypes of “biker chick.” Jessica has a tack-sharp business sense and is lovely inside and out. I particularly love that she has a strong vision for her brand and knows exactly where she wants to take it. I’ve met very few entrepreneurs with as much drive and focus as Jessica. She’s fantastic!

As a commercial photographer, I love working with a company to build a brand’s visual identity. I did it for a decade and a half as a marketing/creative manager. Now I get to bring my experience to commercial photography. I love marrying the marketing and artistic sides of my brain to produce something amazing for a company.

I still have a lot of photos to go through from today’s She Ridz shoot. However, there’s nothing more fun than a sneak peek, right? I really do LOVE my job…
